Lake Fundudzi and the Sacred Forest, Thohoyandou, Lowveld, Limpopo Province.

The enchanted Lake Fundudzi, home of the Python God and the Sacred Forest, at which one may look but not enter or touch, are two of the best known places in this magical region. This is the home of the Venda, whose origins are lost in the mists of time but who are probably descendants of the builders of Great Zimbabwe. These legends are however not served up on a silver platter. You will need time to seek them out. It might be a good idea to hire a guide.

One can make the necessary arrangements around Thohoyandou, which is on the R524 east of Louis Trichardt, which is on the N1 north of Potgietersrus, which is at the intersection of the N1 with the N11. Travel east on the R524 from Louis Trichardt to Thohoyandou.  AILake
