Livingstone’s Lake --The drama of Lake Nyasa, Oliver Ransford, 1966.

The turbulent history of Lake Nyasa (now Lake Malawi) makes an interesting and colourful story. For a long time this lake remained a myth to the outside world but slowly information accumulated. Arab and Portuguese intrusions added greatly to knowledge of this remote continent but both degenerated into a squalid hunt for slaves. This book describes the encounters and incidents that have occurred along the lake shores. Nyasa’s history is full of warring tribes, heroes and tyrants. Printed in Great Britain for John Murray, Albermarle Street, London by Camelot Press, London and Southampton. AKLivingstone
