o    Languages: South Africa currently has 11 official languages. English is the lingua franca, being spoken throughout the country. Staff members in the larger hotels and shops often speak several European languages.  Search the database for the language of your choice – a variety of languages is spoken by tour guides and in various institutions.
o    Tipping: In restaurants, 10% of the bill usually applies, depending on the standard of service provided. Restaurants usually do not include a tip in the bill. Taxi drivers should also receive 10% of the amount charged. R1.00 per bag is usually given to porters. ATTraculture
