Wining and Dining, South Africa.

South Africa is acclaimed for its top quality fresh produce and culinary excellence. This reaches its acme in the winelands of the Western Cape and many of the private game reserves throughout the country. In most cities and towns menus feature French, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Chinese, Greek, Mexican, Cape Malay and every other type of cuisine imaginable. The standard ranges from the unexceptional to the sublime

The quality of fresh fruit and especially the fruit juice is notable. Quality fruit juice contains no artificial preservatives and must be refrigerated. Boxes of fruit juice, spring water as well as flavoured water are available in most supermarkets.

The country is also internationally renowned for its fine wines.  Many estates have been producing excellent wines for years. Most unlicensed restaurants do not object if patrons bring their own wine, although a corkage fee is sometimes levied.   Restaurant guides are available from tourism associations in major cities.  Restaurants are accessible via the Diners Club website.
