Amakhala Game Reserve, Sidbury, Settler Country, Eastern Cape.

An exclusive 4000-Ha game reserve that caters for a limited number of guests. Owner-managed lodges. Animals that once roamed the area are being reintroduced. Several lodges, as follows:

•    Leeuwenbosch Country House: Large and beautiful house (circa 1908) offers true country living in every sense. Spacious and comfortable, it has four double rooms, bathrooms and a fully-equipped kitchen.  All rooms are serviced daily and dinner is available on request.
•    The Cottage: Self-contained country cottage (circa 1836) in the original homestead. Double room bathroom, living area, kitchenette and cellar pub, as well as TV and billiard table.  Fully-equipped and serviced daily. Dinner on request.
•    Eliweni Lodge:  Attractive thatched cottage surrounded by indigenous trees in a sheltered kloof overlooking the Bushmans River.  Spacious and rustic with an open plan design. Relax on the front deck, take a stroll or enjoy a braai up “Sandstone Creek”.
•    Reed Valley Cottage: Private cottage in a charming garden. Two large double bedrooms, each with separate entrances and bathrooms en-suite. Game drives in open 4x4’s. Sumptuous dinners.
•    Carnarvon Dale: Family farm lies across the northern boundary of the reserve. Private double room in the main 1820 Settlers farmhouse or, for greater privacy, two double bedrooms in the Victorian “Top House”. Birding and game viewing along the Bushmans River. Roger and Maryan Hart are your hosts.
•    Woodbury Lodge: On a spectacular krantz above the Bushman’s River Valley. Three en-suite sleeping lodges serviced by a separate dining lodge. Breathtaking views from the wooden deck. 

Day trips to neighbouring reserves and attractions. Sidbury is on the N2 northeast of Port Elizabeth, which is close to the intersection of the N2 with the N10. Travel east from Paterson on the N10. Close to the Addo, Schotia and Shamwari Game Reserves. ABAmakhala
