Easby House, Bergville, Northern Drakensberg, Northern Kwa-Zulu Natal.

Historical house against the slope of Thaba Nyama, with beautiful views of the Northern and Central Drakensberg.  The house was built by the Coventry family from England in 1897.  It was the headquarters of General Louis Botha while he installed his defences on Tugela Ridge.  The house has since been restored to its former glory. Luxury accommodation with full suites, a pub and a snooker room in a former arms stash, wide verandahs, a swimming pool, conference facilities, weddings in a historical church, etc. Breakfasts and buffet lunches or make use of our braai facilities. Experience the fascination of Spion (Spioen) Kop, also called the “Acre of Massacre” Step back from crime, cancer and computers into a time when real heroes lost their lives in pursuit of their dreams. The war cries of the soldiers of the British Empire still reverberate against the slopes of Thaba Nyama and Tugela Ridge. Full day tours include a preliminary talk, Ladysmith, Colenso and a then a light lunch followed by Spioenkop.

Easby House is on the R616 east of Bergville, which is on the R74 south of Harrismith, which is at the intersection of the N3 with the N5. BKEasby
