Berghfontein Bed and Breakfast, Badplaas, Escarpment, Mpumalanga.

Situated at the end of a quiet dirt road where there is no traffic and a total absence of noise, you will find Berghfontein amidst the rich green of Sappi plantations and forests.  Lying in a deep valley overlooking the breathtaking beauty of the Mpumalanga Drakensberg in the most peaceful and tranquil setting, it is the ideal foil to the stress, pollution and noise of city life.

The quality of accommodation is luxurious, comfortable and located in the modern farmhouse, where guests are treated as part of the family.  The house is beautifully furnished with antique pieces that bring an atmosphere of warmth and friendliness.  During the day, guests have the run of the house after enjoying a hearty English breakfast.  Dinner is optional, but can be arranged with advance notice. Guests must however provide their own wine for the occasion.

TV with M-Net is available by joining the family in the farmhouse lounge, as is our selection of books for your reading pleasure.  The outside stoep offers alternative comfortable seating, where guests were able to invigorate the soul as sunset and beautiful mountainous views replace for a moment the concerns of another altogether distant life.  And in the fresh birth of morning mountain air, a brisk walk to a natural spring and waterfall, set deep in the kloof and surrounded by thick indigenous forest.  Who are your partners in this wonderland retreat?  Nature herself, small game and a rich diversity of bird life. The dams on the farm offer an opportunity to try, first-hand, trout and fly fishing, but it's important to bring your own gear. Open 24 hours per day but credit cards are not accepted.

Badplaas is on the R38 east of Carolina, which is on the R36 north of Ermelo, which is at the intersection of the N2 with the N11 and the N17. Travel south on the R541 from Machadodorp, which is on the N4, via Skurweberg Pass to Badplaas. AKBerghfontein
