Bed and Breakfast

ID #4822

Walden House, Hogsback, Amatola Mountains, Eastern Cape.

“I sit beside the fire and think of all that I have seen, Of meadow flowers and butterflies in summers that have been, Of yellow flowers and gossamer in autumns that there were, With morning mist and silver sun and wind upon my hair” Lord of the Rings, J R Tolkien. Whether you visit us to enjoy the coolness of the deep green forest in summer, or during winter when snow blankets the forest floor and the surrounding hills, or maybe you will visit during spring, when new growth and birds awaken the indigenous woods with the peaceful sounds or rebirth, or possibly in autumn when nature cloaks the encircling mountains and hills in a rustic coat of vibrant red, orange and yellow.  Whatever your choice, you will discover that Hogsback is truly a place for all seasons.

Thatched house consisting of two double rooms and one twin room, each with its own bathroom.  Electric blankets. Sun-filled lounge with fireplace.  Breakfast in the dining room. In bed on special occasions. Take a picnic basket to Swallowtail Falls. Cycling and horse riding, or hike through the forest. The Tyume Forest Trail leads to all the major waterfalls, such as Bridal Veil Falls or the Madonna and Child Falls. Birders paradise. Stroll through the village with its many beautiful gardens.
