Curragh Lake Cottages, Underberg, Southern Drakensberg, Central Kwa-Zulu Natal.

Self-catering accommodation in the Southern Drakensberg. Three cottages:

•    Middle Valley Cottages. Two thatched cottages on “Middle Valley Farm” at the top end of Curragh Lake, with river and dam fishing on your doorstep. Each sleeps up to ten in three bedrooms and a mezzanine.
•    Curragh Lake Cottage.  A character, thatched cottage on the lake edge on the farm “Curragh”, it sleeps up to ten in four bedrooms.
•    Sussex Downs Cottage. A rondavel in a peaceful farm garden with a beautiful view of the southern Drakensberg. It sleeps only two. All fishing and recreational facilities are available to residents.

General Information:

•    All cottages are self-catering and fully equipped, including bedding. Bring your own towels
•    Braai facilities provided, but bring your own charcoal.
•    Abundant birdlife and wildlife, including the rare spotted-necked otter
•    Walks to see wildflowers in the mountains
•    Tube on the river or mountain lake
•    Lake is stocked with rainbow trout or bass. Extra charge and only fly-fishing tackle allowed. Kick-craft and float tubes may be used. Rods and boats for hire
•    San rock paintings on Curragh Farm.

Curragh Lake is on the Ndawana River south of Underberg, which is on the R617 west of Howick, which  is on the N3 northwest of Durban, which is at the intersection of the N2 with the N3.  Travel west on the R617 from Howick via Boston and Bulwer toUnderberg. Continue south from Underberg on the R617 for a further 27-km towards Swartberg. Turn right onto the D302 and drive 3-km to Middle Valley Farm. Alternatively, continue for a further 4-km and turn right onto the D670 for 1-km to Curragh Farm. Continue for a further 3-km to Sussex Downs Cottage. The latter is 45-km from Swartberg. BHCurragh
