2800-Ha farm at the foot of the picturesque Steenkampsberg with a magnificent view over the Draaikraal Valley in Mpumalanga. 1760-m above sea level with an annual rainfall of 850-mm per annum. A variety of wild flowers occur, such as the beautiful yellow arum lilies that flower from October to January, the rare Aloe reitzii and elephant ear.  Indigenous trees include the Transvaal bottlebrush, the Silver Sugarbush and White Stinkwood.  Jackal buzzard, crowned crane and purplecrested loerie, steenbok, klipspringer, ardwolf and brown hyena (hyaena) are some of the animals and birds seen.  The Klip River winds through the valley forming giant wetlands.  Commercial beef raising is the principal activity.

Mampuru initiated the murder of his half-brother, Sekhukhune, the heir to the throne. This led ultimately to the led Mapoch War in 1882/83. The Potchefstroom and Heidelberg Commandos formed lagers at Steenbokbult.  Field-cornet Roos died after being shot during a reconnaissance expedition at Roossekop on the northern boundary of the farm.
