Whipstock Farm, McGregor, Overberg, Western Cape, South Africa.

Visit our farm and return to a more relaxed pace of life away from the hustle and bustle. Located in the rain shadow of the Sonderend Mountains, on the banks of the Koningsriver, we have kept a part of rural South Africa untouched by progress. Two self-catering cottages and three bed and breakfast, each with an atmosphere and charm of their own. The cottages are equipped with fridges and coffee and tea-making facilities and fireplaces. Breakfast with dinner by request.

Longlands Unit 1: sleeps 4. A Georgian-style building split into three separate units next to an old oak tree. It is situated on the slope and is a short distance from the main homestead. Unit 1 features a small lounge with a fireplace and a double bed, a separate alcove with a bunk bed for the kids Bathroom Facilities Large shower. Double bed & 2 bunk beds. No smoking in rooms, fireplace. Views of the garden.

Longlands Unit 2 sleeps 2. A little honeymoon suite, containing a double bed. The bathroom contains a shower that easily fits two, and a small Queen Ann stove will keep guests warm in the winter. Large shower, double bed. No smoking in rooms, fireplace. Views of the garden

Longlands Unit 3 sleeps 4. A small lounge a double bed with a fireplace and a separate alcove with bunk beds for the kids. Large shower, double and bunk beds. No smoking in rooms, fireplace. Views of the garden

Rietvlei sleeps 6. Rietvlei was the original dwelling of the pioneer family, and sleeps six guests with a double bed and four single beds in the loft. Features include a comfortable lounge with a fireplace and a bathroom with a bath-shower combination. Bath with bath shower combined. 4single beds and 1 double bed. No smoking in rooms.  Fireplace upstairs. Views of the mountain.

Winterfield sleeps 4. It is located close to the dining room commons room, and homestead. The main bedroom has a double bed and, its own fireplace and the second bedroom has two single beds. Features include a small entrance hall, fully-equipped kitchen and large shower. No smoking in rooms, fireplace. Views of the garden

The farm offers a myriad of activities to keep everyone busy. There is a dam with clean mountain water for swimming and canoeing.  The surrounding areas for great walks or mountain bike rides are underdeveloped. Short and longer trails have been laid out on the farm. The night sky is clear and stargazing is a journey into another world. Other activities include swimming, hiking, walking, bird watching, billiard table, darts, games and photography. The surrounding wine estates offer stylish wine-tasting outings. There is a deli, small store for basics, numerous shops and restaurants in McGregor. Communal facilities include parking, garden, fireplace, satellite TV, fully-equipped kitchen and weber braai’s. The commons room offers a small bar area (we are not licensed so bring your own) with large fire place, dining room and a television with full DSTV. A variety of board games are also available and a library is available for readers to browse. English and Afrikaansspoken

GPS Coordinates: S 33 degrees 58.757 E019 degrees 45.152. Whipstock is two hour’s drive from Cape Town. Travel northeast on the N1 from Cape Town to Worcester. From Worcester take the R60 to Robertson. Follow the well signposted tarred road to McGregor that leaves the R60 in Robertson. Upon reaching McGregor drive through the village without any deviation and continue on a dirt road at the other end towards the mountains. The sign to the farm is on the RHS of the road 8 km after leaving the village. Turn right and follow the road to the main farm house. Cape Town International is 128.4km. Nearby restaurants nearby include Karoux, Cafe Tebaldi, Eseltjiesrus Country and Frangipani. The McGregor   Museum and Mulberry Studio are nearby.
