J&E Guest Farm, Amsterdam, Escarpment, Mpumalanga.

On a 587-Ha farm, Glen Eland, which has been in the Nienaber family for 52 years. Principal activities are forestry, dairy cattle and horses. Accommodation in a three-bedroomed house with open plan kitchen and living area.  The house is 100-m from the main homestead but is fenced and private. Rooms include TV, heater and ceiling fans.  Breakfast consists of bacon and eggs, toast, coffee or tea. Traditional South African braais. Meals are available on request and are not included in the rates. Activities include:

•    Fishing: Fly or bait fishing for yellowfish, black bass, carp or barbel in the pools of the Impama River that runs through the farm.
•    Game Viewing: Game includes oribi, blesbok, duiker, and steenbok. One can see black wildebeest, blesbok, zebra, springbok and other game on the 3000 Ha Nu-Scotland Bavaria a few km from the farm.
•    Horse Riding: See the wildflowers, small game, birdlife and farming activities on horseback.  Joseph Nienaber, owner and host, will gladly assist novice riders.
•    Hiking: Trials take approximately 3-4 hours to complete.  There are also trails at the Amsterdam Environmental Training Centre nearby.

Amsterdam is on the R65 east of Ermelo, which is at the intersection of the N2 with the N11 and the N17. Glen Eland is on the Rainbow Route, 35-km from Swaziland Border Gate at Nerston/Sandlane and 65-km from Ermelo on the R65 to Amsterdam (15-km). AYJEGuest
