MacDougall’s Bay Caravan Park, Port Nolloth, West Coast, Northern Cape.

The Northern Cape’s only seaside resort. On the beach of a beautiful bay that is sheltered by a series of offshore islands and rocks. 94 stands within a few meters of the beach. All are level and have electrical connections. There is no grass or shade, but stands are separated by tall hedges that provide privacy. Rubbish bins and water taps at regular intervals. Illuminated at night. Ablution blocks with toilets, showers, baths, laundry and scullery tubs, washing machines and laundry service on request. Small play area and public telephones. The beach is ideal for walks, sunbathing and beach games. Port Nolloth with its shops, LPG filling and other services is 4 km away. Swimming, canoeing, snorkelling, windsurfing, boating, water-skiing and angling.  Being a marine reserve, only the public are allowed to catch crayfish in the bay. Other attractions include microlight flights over the bay and 4x4 and hiking trails though the nearby Sandveld dunes. Diamond mining operations at Alexander Bay. Guided tours of the Richtersveld, South Africa’s only mountain desert and home to the world’s largest collection of succulent species. Namaqualand’s annual flower extravaganza (in August and September) is nearby. Credit cards accepted. Small dogs by prior arrangement. No motorcycles. Security in season.

Port Nolloth is on the R382 west of Steinkopf, which is on the N7 north of Springbok, which  is at the intersection of the N14 with the N7. AJMac
