Matroosberg Reserve, Ceres, Boland, Western Cape.

It covers 1000-Ha and includes the peak of the Matroosberg (Sailors Mountain). It is the highest mountain in the Boland (2247-m). During winter, it is often covered with snow. Trips on the legendary 4x4 route in Bedford trucks made comfortable with padded seats.  See impressive rock formations and beautiful panoramic views on the way up.  The turning point is at Groenhoekkloof, where one can see stunning views of sheer rockface and dazzling heights.  Views include the Warm Bokkeveld, Ceres, Droe Hoek, the Koue Bokkeveld and the Ceres Karoo.  The view changes constantly as the drive progresses until part of the Brandvlei Dam becomes visible from Groothoekkloof.

On the farm Erfdeel, 35-km from Ceres, which is north of Worcester, which is at the intersection of the N1 with the N15. Travel north on the R301 from Paarl, which is on the N2, via Wellington and Mitchell’s Pass to Ceres. BLMatroos
