Ikaya le Intlabati Accommodation, Second Beach, Port St Johns, Wild Coast, Transkei, Eastern Cape.

The name means “house on the beach” in Xhosa. And we are as close to the beach as you can get. For a quiet stop off the beaten track, this is the ultimate place to take in the sights and sounds of rural Transkei.  In the indigenous bush of the Wild Coast, our garden walkway leads onto a tidal lagoon and Second Beach Bay. We offer fully equipped self-catering facilities with lots of space to lounge around and a garden verandah for evening star gazing.  We have no TV or Internet. Just the sounds of the forest around you and the breaking of the waves a few feet away.  Our cottages are ideal for independent travellers wanting to find a place to catch up with themselves.  We have singles, doubles and space for groups.  Sorry no dorms.  Spend days exploring Silaka Nature Reserve or wander through beautiful coastal forest. Take a day trip into the rolling hills or laze on Second Beach.  Alternatively, just sit in the garden and watch the birds and the monkeys play.  Ikaya has been called a bit of heaven and a slice of paradise.  Please come and experience it for yourself.  Safe parking, friendly dogs, all the chillies and herbs you could ever need and fresh seafood daily.

Travel southeast on R61 from Umtata on the N2.  From the town centre, take the Second Beach Road turnoff and follow the tar road for 5-km until it ends. Follow the dirt road across the bridge and around for another 250-m until you see our sign. Port St Johns is on the R61 east of Umtata, which is on the N2 northeast of East London, which is at the intersection of the N2 with the N6. BEIkaya
