Entertainment and Places to Eat in East Griqualand, Kwa-Zulu Natal.

Service clubs such as MOTHS, Round Table and Lions as well as other organisations provide many different forms of entertainment throughout the year - and can always be counted on to think up something with a difference.

o    The Mount Currie Inn hosts a festival in September. It is a two-day event and draws people from as far afield as Pietermaritzburg and Durban. On Saturday, evening entertainment is provided for all to enjoy.
o    Five farmers associations each hold monthly stock sales in their areas. They also host Show Sales once a year. These are being expanded to include a window for local crafts people to sell their wares. Visitors are always welcome. Teas and lunch are on sale on these days.
o    The various Country Clubs and sporting bodies also host functions throughout the year. Visitors are always welcome.

There is no "formal" entertainment as such, but the people that put on shows, plays and host the various functions have proved over the years that they are by no means amateurs.

o    In the complex at the Mount Currie Inn you will find their in-house restaurant - The Tipsy Trout.
o    The Wimpy and Jacks Country TakeAway are next door.
o    The Ingeli Forest Lodge has an in-house restaurant.
o    The Rocky Ridge Spur next to the Balmoral Hotel is on Hope Street in Kokstad.
o    Roylats Spar has an in house coffee shop, popular for snacks, light meals etc.
o    Matatiele Country Club offer basic bar meals. Book in advance. In the town can be found Polly's Tea Garden.
o    The Matatiele Caravan Park has been bought by private individuals, renovated and refurbished. They do pub lunches daily, very popular. The also have self-catered chalets, but cater on request. Wednesday & Saturday nights they are open for meals but booking is essential.
o    A new restaurant has just opened at the Bladen Falls, between Kokstad and Franklin. Known as The Falls, you can eat you meals on the terrace, while floodlights light the water plunging over the falls.
o    St. Bernards Mountain Lodge caters for non-hotel guests. Basic no choice menu. BJEnter
