Splashy Fen Music Festival, Underberg, Drakensberg, Kwa-Zulu Natal.

The first festival was held in 1990 when a few hundred fans camped out under the stars and enjoyed a modest lineup of music over two days. Since then the festival has grown and now features 50 performances over four days and nights with close to 10000 expected to fill the valley.  The nature of the music has evolved and diversified into funk, trance, tribal, rock and jazz.  There is something for everyone at Splashy.  This year sees the introduction of several international bands. We welcome you al to Splashy Fen and we trust you will enjoy the music and the atmosphere. We ask you to respect the earth and each other and to have a good ol’ damn time. How to enjoy yourself at Splashy Fen (without spoiling anyone else’s fun):

•    No car boot music – please.
•    Garbage collection and bins.  Please make use of the black garbage bags given to you at the gate
•    Swimming and bathing. Please feel free to swim in the rivers but remember that there are live trout in the water and they do not appreciate soap, even biodegradable soap.  Do not swim in the reservoir in the top campground – that’s everyone’s drinking water. Feel free to take a dip in the dam. Remember that the river is shallow in places so do not dive into the water.
•    Pets. No pets of any description.
•    Hiking. Feel free to walk on the farm.
•    Fires. Please do not leave fires unattended.
•    Take care of your property.
•    Snakes. Be aware of snakes when you walk or sit on rocks.
•    Public Announcements. No public announcements will be made as this interferes with the music programme.
•    Children’s creche. Behind the Bamboo Mountain Stage. Keep your children amused while you relax and enjoy the music.

See you at Splashy Fen in April. Underberg is on the R617 southwest of Howick, which is on the N3 northwest of Durban, which is at the intersection of the N2 with the N3. Travel southeast on the R617 via Boston and Bulwer to Underberg. AVSplashy
