King Lobengula’s Tree. Bulawayo, Western Zimbabwe, Southern Africa.

The Matabele king held important meetings in the shade of this thorn tree when settler expansion northwards was only a rumour.  Nevertheless, rumour became fact, the king fled to die in a lonely cave and his capital was set on fire. The tree however survived. AGKinlob
