Ultimatum Tree, Gingindlovu, Zululand, Northern Kwa-Zulu Natal.

Close to the mouth of the Tugela River. On December 11 1878, in the shade of this sycamore fig, British representatives handed an ultimatum to a Zulu delegation that demanded – in effect – the dissolution of their sovereign nation.  The Zulu refusal to reply sparked the Anglo-Zulu War. Only the stump remains. On the R102 north of Stanger, which is on the N2 north of Durban, which is at the intersection of the N2 with the N3. AGUltimatum
