Blockhouse, Wellington, Winelands, Western Cape.

During the Anglo-Boer War the British built 8000 blockhouses at vital points, and this relic is the southernmost of a chain protecting the rail link to the north. It is prefabricated from stone with cement gun outlets, an ironwork lookout and a corrugated iron roof. Wellington is on the R301 west of Worcester, which is at the intersection of the N1 with the N15. Travel northeast on the R44 from Paarl, which is on the N1. AHBlock
