Ferns, lichens and yellowwoods, deep clear pools and splashing falls delight the casual walker on a short and undemanding ramble from Cathkin Peak Hotel. Another stroll leads to Barry’s grave, where a young climber, Dick Barry, is buried. He grew up in the Mine Manager’s mansion at Pilgrim’s Rest and fell to his death here in 1938. Ladysmith is close to the intersection of the N3 with the N11. Travel southwest on the R600 from Ladysmith to Winterton, which is on the R74. Travel southwest on the R600 from Winterton to Cathkin Peak. AHCathkin
