Kame Ruins, Bulawayo, Western Zimbabwe, Southern Africa.

This capital city on the banks of the Kame River was set alight and destroyed, probably by Ndebele warriors in about 1830, ending four centuries of settlement. The site covers 40-Ha and includes stone walls and terraces and a passage which leads to a hilltop structure overlooking a quiet pool. A small museum explains the history of the area. Apparently the ruins are about 10-km from Bulawayo. Contact Val Bell at Bulawayo Tourism Information or the Matopos National Park for directions. AHKame
