Bayworld, Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape.

Incorporating the Port Elizabeth Museum, Oceanarium, Snake Park and #7 Castle Hill, Bayworld offers you a close encounter with intriguing creatures and displays depicting life in Algoa Bay.  Variety of displays, from prehistoric dinosaurs to ethnic beadwork and historical treasures that will keep you fascinated for hours. Noteworthy exhibits. Features include:

•    The 15-m skeleton of the last southern right whale harpooned in Algoa Bay
•    A life-sized reconstruction of a giant prehistoric dinosaur known as Algoasaurus
•    A replica of the Diaz Cross
•    A 5-m bronze cannon dated 1640 recovered from a Portuguese galleon wrecked near Port Elizabeth
•    #7 Castle Hill, one of the oldest houses in Port Elizabeth.  It is furnished as a family home of the mid-Victorian period. It is a national monument, and dates back to 1827.
•    Tiny seahorses, slippery eels, ragged toothed sharks, dolphin and seal presentations and a colony of penguins.
•    Sungazers, tortoises, snakes and crocodiles at the snake park, which is the oldest in Africa. Rare and threatened species, including the Madagascan ground boa, are protected.
•    Lively programmes to raise the awareness of our cultural and national heritage.
•    Venues for product launches, conferences, workshops, etc are available for hire.
•    Wildlife Society shop for souvenirs, gifts and books.

Open daily from 09h00 to 16h30 but closed on Christmas Day.  The Oceanarium closes between 13h00 and 14h00. Seal and dolphin presentations at 11h00 and 15h00 daily.
