Spring Flowers in Calvinia, Hantam Karoo, Northern Cape.

Every year in spring a miracle occurs when nature’s richest floral kingdom explodes into a kaleidoscope of flowers. Weather conditions determine the early or late appearance of flowers. The displays usually reach their peak in the middle of August and close at the end of September. Please bear in mind that it takes two or three days to visit all of the displays in Calvinia, Nieuwoudtville and Loeriesfontein. Temperatures may plummet below zero. Allow extra days because it may rain, be overcast or too windy for the flowers to open. They usually open between 10h30 and 16h30. Calvinia is on the R27 east of Vanrhynsdorp, which is on the N7 north of Cape Town. Travel east on the R27 from Vanrhynsdorp via Niewoudtville to Calvinia. BCSpring
