Shangana Cultural Village, Hazyview, Lowveld, Mpumalanga.

Welcome to the homes of the descendants of Chief Shoshengana, founder of the Shangaan nation.  Tours led by experienced guides start from the Marula Market village, where arts and crafts are sold. Day tours take the visitor on a winding path through fields and bush to a village where a Shangaan family lives.  The guide explains their fascinating way of life before moving on to the Sangoma’s Kraal for a lesson in traditional medicines.  Midday tours enable visitors to share a meal with the family. Only the freshest ingredients are used, served from traditional bowls, pots and wooden plates. In the evening, a festival in which a huge cast of choristers and dancers presents the history of the Shangaan, and dinner is served in the huts. A spectacular, moving and unforgettable African experience.
