St Lucia Eastern Shores Self-guided Trails, Greater St Lucia Wetland Park, Maputoland, Northern Kwa-Zulu Natal.

There are two trails:

•    Mziki Trail. (40-km, 3 days).  A varied and unique trail that includes the seashore, the open grasslands of the Eastern Shores, dense forests and coastal dunes, with spectacular views of the sea and the St Lucia Lake system.  Overnight accommodation at a hut on Mount Tabor. Antelope, hippo, crocodile, bushpig and leopard and a variety of birds.  The trail begins from the hut on Mt Tabor, 2-km from the Mission Rocks outpost. Malaria precautions are necessary.

•    Emoyeni Trail.  65-km, 5 days. The trail is for serious hikers and takes five days to complete. Takes one through some of the most beautiful parts of the park.  Dangerous animals include black rhino, hippo, buffalo, crocodile and leopard.  There are also many antelope and other small mammals. Parties are limited to eight. Malaria precautions are necessary.
