Schreiner House, Cradock, Karoo, Eastern Cape.

The recently restored Schreiner House is one of Cradock’s oldest surviving houses. It was built in the 1850’s with a flat roof, a stepped parapet, thick walls and heavy yellowwood beams. Olive Schreiner, who once lived there, was the author of a famous South African book, “Story of an African Farm” -- compulsory reading for those interested in this fascinating country. #9 Cross Street, Cradock, which is on the N10 southeast of Middelburg, which is at the intersection of the N9 with the N10.
