Burgersdorp Historical Cultural Museum, Burgersdorp, Karoo, Eastern Cape.

A theological college for the Reformed Church opened in Burgersdorp in 1869. The first two lecturers were Professors Dirk Postma and Jan Lion Cachet. Two small outside rooms were used as classrooms. Many Reformed Ministers were educated here until the college moved to Potchefstroom in 1905. The old rectory was erected in 1898 and now serves as the main building for the museum complex. A weapon and clothes collection as well as an old kitchen, language laboratory, the Lion Cachet/Postma room and a unique collection of Africana are exhibited. It also includes the De Bruin House (a typical Karoo home), Coetzee House (library, technology, Xhosa and Voortrekker rooms), implements, weapons and carriages. The building was declared a national monument in 1980.

Burgersdorp is on the R58 east of Colesberg, which is at the intersection of the N1 with the N9. AYBurgersdorp
