Natal Herbarium, Durban, Central Kwa-Zulu Natal.

Founded in 1882, it has been proclaimed a national monument. It is a centre for the study of the indigenous plants of the eastern region of South Africa, which includes three of the IUCN internationally-recognised centres of plant diversity. The herbarium collection is the basis of all work, with five key areas:

•    Plant information services
•    Systematics research
•    Documentation of flora
•    Computerisation of the collection
•    Student training, and
•    Promotion of botany in the community.

Durban is at the intersection of the N2 with the N3. AANatal
