Quo Vadis Southern Africa News
THE WHALES HAVE ARRIVED
Each year several thousand southern right whales migrate north from their summer feeding grounds (apparently 6o degrees south of the equator and not the antarctic as is commonly believed) to calve and mate close to the coast off the Western Cape. They are readily seen from the many whale-watching spots along the coast or from boats licensed to do so. Seeing these gentle leviathans at close quarters is an opportunity that should not be missed.
